The Statue of Yi Hanyeol

Yi Hanyeol was a student at Yonsei University who is symbolized as Korean democracy for his significant sacrifice and inspiration that he gave to a lot of people who were suffering from the military dictatorship. ​​

The Site where Yi Hanyeol got shot

In front of Yonsei University, the stone plate indicates exactly where he got severely wounded by a tear gas canister while he was joining the student movement.

Next to His Statue...

Right next to Yi Hanyeol's statue, "198769757922" is engraved on this monument, showing numbers related to his sacrifice and death. In 1987, on June 9th, he got wounded by a tear gas, on July 5th, he passes away. On July 9th, the national funeral was held to mourn for Yi Hanyeol, who died at 22.
