May 18th Democratic Uprising was a democratic movement where local and armed citizens stood up against the military dictatorship in order to gain democracy in 1980.

The Gwangju Democracy Bell

The bell was built in 2003 to symbolize Gwangju and peace, representing the pride pf righteous citizens an d their hope for the prosperity and peace of all people in Korea.
